Koenigsegg

BY Shervantha

Koenigsegg is a car which most of us wouldn’t have heard about and indeed it is a hyper car. Company named after the ambitious Christian von Koenigsegg, he made his dream come true at the age of 22. Well a lot of determination, stubbornness and a fairly massive vision went into making this dream come true and he wanted to make the perfect sports car. This young man launched his car company in 1994 and there was nothing that was going to stop him! With all of this determination he built the Koenigsegg CC with his small team. Once this car was done he stole the show by taking to the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and obviously the reaction of the people on seeing that car was brilliant which left Christian rest assured about the production of his car. In 2002 the series of production was started of the very powerful and Guinness world-recording CC8S model. Being successful in its manufacture of cars they have introduced and patented several new technologies over the years. Among these patents lie the “rocket” catalytic converter, the supercharger response system and a variable geometry turbo system. Added to all these, they have made several unique ways of using carbon fiber in order to making the car lighter, safer and having a strong body structure. All of these things being developed in-house. Because of Christian and his teams excellent work, the Koenigsegg CC8S in 2004 became the favorite supercar of the greatest car critic in the world whom we are all aware of who is none other than the English Jeremy Clarkson! In 2006 the CCX which was produced held a lap record which stood for 2 years, so you could just imagine what a drive and passion Christian von Koeningsegg had to make his dream come true.

Introducing the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita of today
The Trevita which is a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive 2 door roadster, has the same specs as the CCX-R and therefore it produces a 1018 horsepower at 7000rpm (759kW) when running on biofuel. We all would be thinking of how the name Trevita landed on this beauty. Trevita in Swedish means three whites and unfortunately the manufacturers have made only three of these to fulfill its name. The entire body of this car is made of diamond-colored carbon fiber and is somewhat different in design to the other CCX series. The body work of this car is spectacular that it is renowned around the world! Obviously just seeing the words describing the body of this car can make us imagine how it would look when sunlight hits it. This is how it had been described by the manufacturers “it sparkles like millions of silvery white diamonds infused inside the visible carbon fiber weave bodywork.” As it is one of the rarest members of the Koenigsegg family they have decided to go a little further in the making of this car. They included the Koenigsegg shimmering diamond weave bodywork in all three cars, an inconell exhaust system, a flappy paddle gear box, an information and entertainment system which has been combined to be called as an “infotainment system,” carbon ceramic brakes inclusive of ABS ofcourse, airbags which is a must, a chrono instrument cluster and ofcourse a tire monitoring system along with a hydraulic lifting system and not to miss out on the double carbon rear wing. Interesting isn’t it?

It does look immensely breathtaking doesn’t it?!?! Just look at each and every single detail of this car and it has been engineered with so much of taste in it. Since it’s based on the CCXR it takes you from 0-100kmph in the same amount of time that it would in the CCXR which calculates to 2.9seconds. 0-200kmph takes 13.55seconds and takes you up to a top speed of 410+kmph.
So thinking about how it takes you to 100kmph from 0 in just 2.9seconds, it has a 4.8liter v8 which has multi point fuel injection twin rotrex centrifugal superchargers with response system. This consists of a carbon fibre intake manifold with optimized intake tracts, also consists of a “PATENTED” response charge system for optimal engine response! That is definitely cool. Everything that Christian has in his mind is about patents and he seems to have an urge to have something unique which stands out of the rest of the hyper cars. The transmission of this car is tremendous and consists of a torque sensitive slip differential and a specially developed transversal flappy paddle gear box. =O Just having a look at its electrical system which the company claims saying that there are no fuses and relays! They only have solid state digital semiconductors. Just have a look at the 1st picture which shows the width of the rear wheel and that is huge. The rim itself is a Koenigsegg alloy wheel with centre locking with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 unidirectional with asymmetric tread pattern tires 255/35 - 20”. The width of the tire is 12.5” =O that’s incredibly huge!!! The front wheel ofcourse is a 19” rim.

Just take a look at the perfection gone into making these parts. It’s just splendid and gorgeous. Just imagine getting into one of the rarest cars one morning and cruising off and being seated in a totally different world. Such a beauty being able to hit a top speed of 410+ and still have its four wheels on the ground is just amazing.
